Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
  • 1/2 cup store-bought frosting (or homemade)
  • 12 oz chocolate candy melts or chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup colorful sprinkles
  • 12 sturdy lollipop sticks

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking sheet
  • Microwave
  • Refrigerator
  • Parchment paper

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let it cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Mix in half of the frosting until it reaches a dough-like consistency that holds its shape.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least one hour.
  6. Melt the chocolate coating in short bursts in the microwave until smooth. Dip each lollipop stick into chocolate before inserting halfway into each chilled ball.
  7. Coat each ball in melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off, then sprinkle with colorful toppings before setting on parchment paper.
