Method
Prepare the Strawberries
- Wash and hull the strawberries, then chop them into small pieces.
Cook the Jam
- In a large pot, combine the chopped strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Stir well.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat until it comes to a boil, stirring frequently.
- If using pectin, add it according to package instructions once the mixture is boiling.
- Continue to boil for about 10-15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
Jar the Jam
- Remove the pot from heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Using a ladle and canning funnel, pour the hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving a little space at the top.
- Seal the jars with lids and let them cool completely at room temperature.
